1 2 Step

Hello All,

It’s been a bizarrely awesome week. Strange revelations, strange surgery story of course. Been fun trying to remember to “WALK” again, so with that, today’s blog title is brought to you by Ciara’s 1 2 Step. So I will jump right into the blog….

Erika’s 10 Things I Think I Think
1. My ex-wife’s yorkie might be the dumbest/most annoying dog on the planet. Why I agreed to “dog” sit I will never know.
2. Nip/Tuck season 5…pretty damn good. Enjoying watching every moment of it.
3. I am glad summer is here, although I wish I had the life like school kids do, no inhibitions for 2-3 months, just summer Vacation. Oh how life was simple back then….
4. Dear Hulu, Thank you for making my life THAT much simpler. Your new desktop application is both awesome and devilishly fiendish. Because of you, I get even less work done. But, I love you regardless. P.S. I’ve heard a rumor about coming to XBOX live? Can this be true? Is HULU plotting to take over my life? (HULU Pimp Obligation complete.)
5. I am grateful for a child that appreciates what he receives. Yesterday I purchased UP the video game, and he was so grateful and appreciative and told me that “he wished he could purchase something for me.” He has been so helpful as I lay on my ass while recuperating. He has helped me tremendously and I felt the need to show him that I appreciate him, heck he is only 5.
6. It would be nice to be able to finish any one of the 2 books that I have started this year…need to find time.
7. Romeo and Juliet is the HARDEST piece of literature to read. It is a fantastic story, even better outspoken, but have you sat down and read it? I mean…damn. It is harder to understand than an incoherent rambling drunk.
8. I think I met the First and only black man in the world…that doesn’t like watermelon. I am calling the CDC, the National Guard, the FBI, they all need to investigate!
9. Either this is the luckiest week of my life, or the complete opposite. I really won’t have an answer to that for quite some time, but it just seems as if something good has happened, but I don’t know the results of the ordeal yet…
10. My couch is pretty comfortable, but I am tired of looking at it.

Rachael Real Moment – The Surgery Story

First off, the cold is a killer. They put you in a room with a sheet separating you from another patient with Lord knows what element. They then make you strip down with nothing underneath your gown. Which is fine, but they give you like one blanket to warm up with. Great. So I don’t remember going into surgery, nothing past the curtain as they give me this great cocktail of stuff. So what I do remember is this…

Why the hell did I wake up singing Mariah Carey’s Touch My Body? I mean it was vividly funny, certainly caught the attention of everybody in the recovery room. The funny messed up part is that I was singing it in a way that was not appealing, more like a cat meowing on a fence. To make matters worse...I was rubbing my chest and legs in a non appealing way....

So Part 2 of that…more embarrassing. I stopped mid song only to tell the nurse I had to pee. Which she replied….”There’s a bedpan….” And I didn’t let her finish it. I let it rip. Only to hear her say “In the corner, let me get it.” So I peed all over the bed like a 2 year old.

So then I got up to go and clean myself, realized I had a brace the size of four 2x4’s strapped to my leg and then I fell over…face first. So now I am lying on the floor, covered in pee, laughing, and in pain, and only then did I start to realize that my throat was constricted from them jamming the stupid breathing tube into it.

I make it to the bathroom, clean myself up, and then come out. The doctor is there to examine me and…I um…touched the butt. Now normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but it was a male doctor. His reply “I’ve never had that happen to me before,” to which I replied, “Never did that before.” So I was in pain, and they gave me a few shots of morphine, and by a few….I mean 3.

So let’s recap all three surgeries:
1. The first surgery was that I woke up midway through surgery and was giggling like a schoolgirl. Tore stitches after I missed the stairs at my apartment, and then I did it again a week later.
2. I fell off the bed after they took the rails down in the recovery room.
3. Sang Mariah Carey, peed on the bed/myself, fell face first, and grabbed a male doctor’s ass.
Geez…I hope I don’t have to have that 4th surgery they keep talking about.

Pete Thought of the Day – So by being couch jockey, I have made great strides on my current piece of writing…the musical. I think that I am going to be done by the 20th of June, which then the re-write can start.

Going to be a summer to remember, already off to a bang. Hopefully I can sell one of my scripts (really close to this) and move to Phase III of my life.

Mindy Moment – Mr. Unemployed…how’s it going? Been doing the layout and just waiting to get it over to the wonderful Misty to work on it! Sundance submission is in August and we will be ready.

Dream Big...that's all we can do. I dream big and expect positive results. Always ask yourself one thing....What would You...yes YOU, Attempt to do IF you knew you could not fail?

Never sell yourself short as ANYTHING is possible, always keep moving forward...regardless of the circumstances. Adversity comes and Adversity goes, but what you do in those adverse moments...they define you.

Julie Happy Thought of the Day – I get to drive a whopping 30 miles tomorrow. YAY! That is awesome considering I have been restricted to 3 miles max, tomorrow I can drive the approximate distance to work. (P.S. Julie, love ya…I know more about you than you know about me, or so says the Facebook Quiz)

Misty Movie Review
UP – Saw this movie…twice. Loved every balloon popping moment of it. Much Like HULU, I sing the praises of Pixar like no other. Every thing Pixar touches..is golden. They are THE best studio in Hollywood and they are just great at what they do. To take the story of a 78 year old Grumpy old Balloon salesman and a 9 year old boy scout and make it an interesting and great movie. Every year I say Pixar’s movie that year is it’s best movie, but it’s hard to dispute it. They are phenomenal and this movie is INCREDIBLE. Watch it. Watch it in 2D or 3D you can’t go wrong. A definitely great summer movie. 5 stars for sure.

JJ Song of the Week – Comes from Maino ft T-Pain. It is a pretty good song, definitely catchy. It’s called All the Above. Check out the link. Also best of luck to JJ as he FINALLY tries out for American Idol next month. Positive thoughts...yield positive results.

Besides...you miss 100% of the shots you don't take...so I am proud of anyone that takes a shot at something you really want.

Heather Joke of the Day
You are on a crowded bus when you suddenly realize you need to fart.
The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat. You
let go about 5 strong and loud ones back to back.
After a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your
stop.
As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down, and
that's when you remember:
You've been listening to your iPod!

Jordan Quote of the week – “So you going to be lazy and sit on the couch all day or are you going to get up and fix me some dinner??” True words from the wisdom of a 5 year old...the same day I happened to have surgery.

Coming Attractions
Today – I am at home hanging out. Not too much fun. Going to attempt to fulfill my obligation to the team and suck it up to play on our bowling league tonight. Ought to be interesting.
Friday –Not much planned. At home, and then going to go to a friends house with Jordan.
Saturday – Um…nothing. No plans. Probably writing and taking J to see a movie or something, and to Gameworks, he loves that place.
Sunday – Hanging with Jordan all day. No plans other than that.
Monday – Jordan free for a week, so I don’t have any plans at all. Going to be a lonely/boring week at the Stricklin Household. So I will get some writing done, work out and probably have lunch with a few friends.

The end – of the blog is here. I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and that you have a safe/happy weekend. It is Thursday the week is damn near over! I love each of you, thanks for reading…and God Bless.
